I think good literary experiences! I think — I admit, this is just a hunch — that there are many many good unheard of artists out there. And yet literary magazines etc. concentrate on just a few big names. I think if instead of 10 articles on Jonathan Franzen we had 1 article each on some great unheard of person, then the aesthetic experience of our society as a whole would be improved, because people would didn’t like Franzen would learn about the unheard of people (whom they might love).
